Parishioners gathered at St Oswald’s in Malpas on Trinity Sunday to share celebrations with the Reverend Helen Molesworth following her ordination to the priesthood at Chester Cathedral.

Helen is an assistant curate in the churches of St Oswald’s, Malpas, St John’s Threapwood and Holy Trinity Bickerton. Helen led her first celebration of Holy Communion joined by family, friends and congregation from The Benefice of Malpas, Threapwood and Bickerton and her sending church of St Martins, Shropshire.

During morning service, the gospel was read by Canon Philip Crowe and sermon preached by Reverend Chancellor Pam Powell of St Asaph Cathedral. Pam’s late husband Mike, encouraged Helen to pursue her vocation to the priesthood.

“We are delighted to welcome everyone to celebrate with Helen and thank her for her hard work and dedication,” said Canon Davenport, as he and the Benefice Churchwardens made presentations at the end of the service.
