THOSE wanting to go for a dip at Alderford Lake in Whitchurch need not wait much longer with open water swimming dates being trialled in the near future.
Organisers at the lake have listened to calls for open water swimming to be introduced to the lake, and will be running five sessions in June and July.
Open water swimming has been seen at the lake in the past, but typically as part of various triathlon and other sporting events in the area.
Earlier this month around 100 competitors took to the water to compete in the gruelling Ultimate Triathlon.
A post from Alderford Lake online read: “We have had a considerable amount of requests for evening open water swims.
“We have listened and we are so pleased to announce we will be trialling some dates over the next few months.”
The lake will be open for swimming on five dates over the next month: June 26, July 1, July 9, July 17 and July 29.
Organisers at the lake say the cafe will be open until 8.30pm on the listed days, but swimmers must be out of the water by 8pm.
