A WHITCHURCH-based estate agent has joined a nationwide scheme to collect food and toiletries for local foodbanks.

Barbers has announced they are participating in the Relocation Agent Network event to collect at least 10,000 items of food and other daily necessities between June 13 and 20.

The company are encouraging everyone in the community to visit their office in High Street in Whitchurch, as well as their other offices in Market Drayton, Newport and Wellington and Telford to donate any food items or other vital supplies such as toiletries, which they may have going spare.

The event, dubbed #RANFoodbank10k, is a Relocation Agent Network initiative to have members across England, Scotland and Wales join forces to help tackle food poverty in the UK.

Foodbanks across Shropshire are in particular need of shampoo, long life juice cartons, sponge pudding, toilet roll, rice pudding and tinned meat.

This is the second year that Relocation Agent Network has hosted such an event and Barbers managing director, Mike Arthan, said, “We’re thrilled to be taking part in this fundraising initiative, especially one that makes such a positive impact to those in need in our local community.

"Next time you pop to the supermarket, consider picking up an extra item and bringing it to our offices during this week in June, we’d love to hit our target of collecting 10,000 items.”
