MORE than 70 willing walkers turned out in the rain last weekend to take part in the inaugural Rector's Ramble.
Members of The Benefice of St Oswald’s Malpas and St John’s Threapwood and Holy Trinity were joined by walkers from Bickerton and beyond, to take part in the trek.
Covering almost 13 miles between them, Canon Davenport and Revd Helen Molesworth joined in fundraising fun, striding out along pathways, roads, fields and woodlands from Threapwood, to Bickerton and to Malpas.
Raising money for the three churches, the walkers said they enjoyed the community spirit and an opportunity to create new friendships.
Delicious refreshments welcomed everyone back to St Oswald’s Church after the walk for a well-earned rest and congratulations.
"In spite of the dreary weather, we had a fantastic turnout at St John's in Threapwood for the inaugural Rector's Ramble," said Canon Ian Davenport. "Thank you everyone for your support."
Map routes and walking boots were compared, accomplishments shared and everyone applauded the organisers who confirmed the Rector’s Ramble would be taking place again next year.
“We want to thank everyone who has taken part or sponsored this wonderful community event in any way,” added Canon Davenport.
“we have really enjoyed it and are looking forward to doing it again in 2020.”
