A WEM woman will take part in a adrenaline-pumping stunt later this to raise money for a diabetes charity.

Alison Cartwright is the treasurer for the north Shropshire branch of Diabetes UK and is raising money for the charity by taking part in a parachute jump at Tilstock Airfield on August 3.

To raise money for the jump and for Diabetes UK, Alison and other members have been fundraising at businesses around Wem and further afield.

Alison said: "I have Type 1 diabetes and over the years Diabetes UK have done a lot so it's nice to try and give back to those who helped.

"It will be a new experience. My daughter mentioned doing a parachute jump. It's just progressed from there and it's happening now.

"I am looking forward to it. Until I'm on the edge of the plane I won't how I'll feel."

North Shropshire Diabetes Group serve to help people with both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes and point them in the right direction.

The group hold meetings every two months, next meeting on June 26 at Wem Methodist Church between 2pm and 4pm.
