Freemasons around Cheshire have come together to help out an important community asset in Tilston and Malpas.

A group of representatives from the Freemasons headed to Tilston War Memorial Hall this week, headed by senior Cheshire Freemason Rob Bramley.

He was was delighted to present a cheque worth £1,000 to members of the committee for the Memorial Hall to assist with the purchase of a new cooker, the old one being no longer ‘up to the job’.

The money was given by local Freemasons and the new cooker will serve the hall for many years to come.

Pat Blazdell from the hall said hall members are delighted.

“The donation by St Oswald’s Chapter has made such a difference,” she said.

“It has enabled the replacement to take place months earlier than was anticipated and this will have a big impact on the many people who come to the hall.”

Peter James and Steve Farmer, two of the Freemasons who have helped with the donation, added that they were pleased to see first-hand the difference the money given will make.

Meanwhile, the group continued its charity work in the area.

After they presented the money for the Hall, the delegation of Freemasons dropped in on the Older People’s Action in the Locality group (OPAL) in Malpas where a further cheque of £2,500 was presented on behalf of the Cheshire Freemason’s charity.

OPAL provides volunteer services to the older members of the Malpas community.

This is achieved through a range of services and activities including advice, information, advocacy, social and healthy activities and home support.

The grant from the Freemasons will provide much needed assistance to the group and also to the other groups providing similar services across south Cheshire.
