EXTREME cyclists in Tilston were delighted this weekend with the opening of a new pump track.

The track opening, which took place on Sunday, May 26, was part of a £15,000 upgrade to Tilston playing fields, brought along by Tilston Playing Field Association and Tilston Parish Council.

Dozens of young riders of all abilities took to the track on the opening day, giving it its first proper shakedown.

Joe Baddeley, who designed the track and attended the opening, said: "It blew my mind really, to see so many people turn up.

"As the track is finished in tarmac it means that skateboards, scooters, rollerblades and wheelchairs can have a go, not just bikes.

"It's made for all ages. Pros like myself can use it, but it's also good for little-uns."

Those wanting to have a go on the new track also had the chance to have a bike checkup and maintenance advice from the Mobile Bike Mechanics.

Alex Foden, from Mobile Bike Mechanics, said: "Epic day at the Tilston pump track opening. Massive turn out and safe to say everyone had a great time."
