A PATIENT was treated for injuries after a crash near Wem on Friday morning.

Emergency services were called to Lee Brockhurst at around 9.30am with reports of a road traffic collision (RTC).

West Mercia Police attended the incident, along with three fire engines from Prees, Wellington and Wem and an ambulance from West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS).

The collision was between a saloon car and a heavy goods vehicle.

A spokesman for WMAS said: "We were called at 9.31am by West Mercia Police.

"We received reports of a collision between a car and a lorry on the A49.

"One ambulance was sent to the scene.

"One man, who was the driver of the car, was assessed and treated for minor injuries. He was discharged at the scene."
