A larger entry of lambs forward sold to return an average of 233.04ppkg, with a top price of 267ppkg for pen of lambs weighing 37.5kg making £100 from S Smith, Pentre Farm Cottage and also for 41.5kg lambs making £111 from DW & SM Roberts, the White House, which

was top price per head.

Again, an increase in number of spring lambs forward sold to a slower trade than the previous week at a price level similar to livestock markets prices from later in the week.

There was still good competitive bidding on all weights and grades, especially the better quality, better shaped, well fleshed lambs. Heavier weight lambs continue to be more difficult to sell, however this might change as hogget numbers become less.

Lighter weight lambs continue to sell to a strong demand so vendors are encouraged to keep drawing particularly well fleshed lambs.

A good late season number of hoggets forward sold to a much slower trade than the previous week, mostly due to the poor quality, finishing up, hoggs that were entered, and due to a lot of buyers changing over to spring lambs.

However, the best quality well fleshed hoggs sold to a competitive trade, particularly for the handier weight 38-45kg hoggs.
