PARENTS of pupils at Moreton Hall have been given the opportunity to learn a new language.

Moreton First parents have returned to the classroom for a course in Chinese, with the hope that they will benefit from being able to express themselves in different contexts at elementary level.

The classes are organised by Raymond Rhodes, Moreton First language teacher.

He said: "With demand on the increase to learn Mandarin and enrich one’s understanding of Chinese culture, we decided to offer Chinese classes to the Moreton First parents.

“The parents are relishing the challenge of engaging in this process, and are gaining in confidence with their communication skills."

Mr Rhodes believes that as a result of the Chinese economy continuing to increase, there are more opportunities for careers and jobs emerging so there is a definite advantage to learning Mandarin.

Headteacher Mrs Ford, who has also joined in with the sessions, said: "This is a tremendous opportunity to test myself on a language that has always intrigued me.”
