WALKERS in Whitchurch and Wem took a stroll around Alderford Lake to raise money for two charities on Sunday.

Supports of Ted Davies headed around the paths around the lake to raise money for both the Macular Society and Blind Veterans UK.

Former RAF servicemen, Ted Davies, from Wem organised the event, and had encouraged people to support him in raising money for the two charities.

Attendees had the choice to walk the mile circuit just once, or as many laps they could do in a two-hour limit.

Mr Davies, who suffers from a walking disability, partial blindness, diabetes, and a heart condition, said he had hoped for a huge turnout for the walk.

Mr Davies added that he wanted this to continued to be a popular fundraiser for charity.

"Together, we can aim for an amazing turnout at Alderford Lake with the endeavour to create a flourishing fundraiser," said Mr Davies

"I want this to be an experience that's a fun meet up for the entire family while also raising money for two exceptional charities."

All proceeds from the walk were split equally between both charities while a final figure will be announced at a later date.
