Young gymnasts at Adcote School in Litte Ness are celebrating a sweep of national team championship titles.

The under-11s gymnastics team won both the team championship and group sequence titles at the Independent Schools Association (ISA) national championships for a fifth consecutive year.

And the school’s U9s team also won team gold and the group sequence championship in their age group for the fourth time in five years.

The prestigious competition, which attracted 140 top gymnasts from independent schools across the country, was hosted by Adcote.

Adcote gymnasts notched up a sweep of high individual placings across both age groups too.

Adcote gymnastics coach Lisa Nixson said: “Our U9s worked their socks off to learn and perfect a group sequence in just two weeks and the U11s showed their experience to give a fabulous team performance against some very stiff opposition.”

Emilia Moxley won the championship individual gold medal in the U11 category, while Aithne Anin-Mensah won silver and fellow team mates Saskia Lockley and Seren Blackwell came fourth and fifth, respectively.

In the U9s age group Holly Rao gained overall individual silver and team mate Addie Davies took fourth place.

Headmistress Diane Browne said: “We were delighted to host, once again, the ISA National Gymnastics competition. It was a truly wonderful event.

“This competition has seen an ever increasing standard of gymnastics, so we were very proud when our own young gymnasts did so well against such impressive competition.”
