A former RAF servicemen based in Wem has made another call for people to support him in raising money for charity.

Ted Davies, from Wem, has helped organise a 'Sponsored Walk' with the charities Blind Veterans UK and the Macular Society around Whitchurch's Alderford Lake on Sunday at 2pm.

Mr Davies suffers from a walking disability, partial blindness, diabetes, and a heart condition, but is hoping for a huge turnout for the walk.

"I joke that when people ask what sort of turnout I want, I say 'if I said a million, would you believe me'?", said Ted.

"Together, we can aim for an amazing turnout at Alderford Lake with the endeavour to create a flourishing fundraiser.

"I want this to be an experience that's a fun meet up for the entire family while also raising money for two exceptional charities."

"I can't just sit down and do nothing."
