One of Whitchurch's main tennis clubs is set for one of the biggest days of the sporting calendar with the Great British Tennis Weekend.

The Hollies, which is based in Tarporley Road, will take part in the popular nationwide event on Saturday, May 18.

The weekend is on offer to both chidlren and adults wishing to take up the sport, and all are encouraged to do so, according to club publicity officer Yvonne Shrimplin.

"The sun is shining," she said.

"The teams captains have been announced, the matches have started and the courts have been resurfaced.

"The members of the Hollies are eager to share their club with you. We have a large and varied programme ahead.

"The junior section is very successful with a growing number of coaching programmes in place.

"May 18 is the first is the first Nature Valley Big Tennis Weekend formally called The Great British Tennis Weekend.

"These events take place all over the country on the same weekend. So we at The Hollies are delighted to take part in this nationwide event.

It is an opportunity to show case our club and all we offer, to anyone of any age or ability to enjoy tennis.

"Children and adults can have fun and games on the tennis court together with a totally new and modern approach to tennis and tennis coaching.

"Please come and see for yourself."

The courts are situated in Tarporley Road (postcode SY13 1LP), and the junior serssions are running from 11am-12pm and the adult sessions from 2.45pm-3.45pm.
