A WORLD darts champion was in north Shropshire to show off his skills recently.

The Prees Heath Sports club recently hosted a darts exhibition involving current BDO World Champion Glen Durrant while also in attendance was Australian PDC player Corey Cadby.

The well attended event featured a number of players from Whitchurch that had the opportunity to take on either player.

An MC and walk on girl were present for added effect along with the actual BDO World Championship trophy that Glen brought along.

At the end of the exhibition Glen took to the stage for a question and answer session and he singled out Whitchurch darts player Gary Crowther for how well he had thrown.

Dartrts boss Che Kerin said: "Prees club deserve credit for putting on yet another excellent darts exhibition that left everyone present well entertained."

This summer’s Whitchurch individual darts league is due to start next Monday, May 20, with a very healthy entrance of 24 players coming from as far as Telford, Shrewsbury and Nantwich to compete.

The summer tournament which lasts 16 weeks boats a healthy prize fund that should ensure some top darts pitched in the town over the summer before league darts resumes in September.

Meanwhile the Bulls Head have been drawn away at Ludlow in the first round of the Punch Tavern darts knockout. A prestigious tournament that concludes with a finals weekend at Blackpool in October, and the Bulls Head will be keen to progress.

Che added: "Finally I’ve been asked to draw your attention towards a darts knockout taking place at Malpas Sports & Social club this Sunday, May 19. Entry fee is £5, registration from 11am to 1pm, toe the oche at 1.30pm."
