A WHITCHURCH youngster is celebrating after achieving a personal accolade while playing for Shropshire Juniors.

Halle Crawford, who is a member of Archibald Worthington Club bowling club, based in Whitchurch, won the player of the match trophy when playing for the Shropshire Crown Green Bowling Association at county level at the weekend against Warwick and Worcester.

Halle won her game with a nail biting finish to win 21-20 against Harry Fall.

Halle who has been playing bowls for less than a year with the AWC Whitchurch has been given great encouragement by the club and has thoroughly enjoyed her rise to county level bowls.

Shropshire Juniors got their first win over Warwick and Worcester since the 2006 final as they beat them impressively by 61 overall.

An awesome away performance at Triplex produced a 32 shot win with five single figure winners.;

A league representative said: "This is one of the best junior wins we've had this decade, and we now move on to meeting Yorkshire with an eye on winning a trophy."
