Bowlers in Wem looked on approvingly as a new part of the town's bowling club was installed this week.

The club, which is based in Bowens Field, opened a new pavilion on Sunday, with Wem Town Council deputy Councillor Phil Glover on hand to perform the duties.

The log cabin pavilion has come to the club through funding from local businesses while builders in the town carried out the building work to make it a new and already loved part of the club.

A spokesman said: "Wem Bowling club opened its new pavilion yesterday.

"The new pavilion was built by local tradesmen and members and funded through grants from local organisations and trusts including Wem Town Council and Hilton Trust, Bucks Head Trust, and Wem Sports Draw."

"We are delighted that it was official It was officially opened by Cllr Glover."
