EDDISBURY MP Antoinette Sandbach has praised an Audlem volunteer after he received an award for helping others.

Rodney Cotterell runs Audlem Lass Boat Service which transports people with disabilities to enjoy canal boat trips in the village.

Mr Cotterill received an award and a letter from Prime Minister Theresa May, which Ms Sandbach was delighted about.

She said: “I was was delighted to learn that Rodney and his team of dedicated volunteers from the Audlem Overwater Wheelyboat Services were recognised by the Prime Minister with a Points of Light Award, following my nomination of the service.

In a personal letter to Mr Cottrell, Mrs May said: “You should be very proud of your work fundraising, for providing opportunities for disabled people to enjoy Britain’s beautiful waterways.

“I wish you well as your work continues.”
