Whitchurch Town Council has confirmed that complaints made against the town clerk have been dismissed.
The announcement was made to councillors during the private session – which excludes press and public – at the April full town council meeting on April 18.
Zoe Dean, who is town centre manager and deputy clerk for the council, confirmed to The Herald that there would be no further action against Nicola Young, Whitchurch’s town clerk, with a statement from the personnel committee, which oversaw the investigation.
It said: “Having followed ACAS Guidelines & HR Advice the complaints against the town clerk were unfounded and the matter has now been closed.”
However, the council did not reveal the identity of the source of the complaints against the clerk.
There have been tensions in recent weeks between the clerk and individual councillors, while Councillor Andy Hall resigned from the personnel committee in March, believing it had not correctly followed procedures.
Meanwhile, there are two committee meetings scheduled for tomorrow at the Civic Centre.
First, the parks and public realm committee will meet in the Edward German Room at 7pm, and that will be followed by a meeting of the Civic Centre Committee an hour later.
Next week, on may 11, the finance committee and personnel committee will both meet at the Civic.
