A PROJECT to make planting beds accessible for all is underway at the Cambrian Rotary Club.
The rotary club are currently engaged in a long-term relationship with the Avalon Day Opportunities centre in Victoria Road, Oswestry, and have made the raised planting beds for the centre attendees.
The Avalon Centre is a day centre and meeting place for a large number of adults with a range of learning and physical disabilities in and around Oswestry to give them access to a range of opportunities they could not normally access.
The idea behind the project is to allow both able bodied and wheelchair bound centre users to grow and get the joy of planting and nurturing their own vegetables from seed to plate, all while enjoying fresh air in the garden.
President of Oswestry Cambrian, Cath Baldry, said: “This is another example of Rotary in Action and how Rotary in the community can improve and enhance lives”.
Oswestry Cambrian Rotary has also recently welcomed two new members into the Rotary family.
Irene Miller and her husband Gary Miller moved to Wales in 2014 after spending several years living in Ontario, Canada.
Cath Baldry, said: “We are so pleased to welcome Irene and Gary into our thriving and growing Rotary and they bring a lot of community experience with them.”
If you are considering volunteer work in the community then Oswestry Cambrian club is ready to welcome anyone from the local community.
