A POPULAR village carnival will return once again this summer.

West Felton, near Oswestry, has planned a Carnival Day fun-packed with entertainment on Sunday, July 14.

The carnival will launch with a grand procession led by the Carnival King and Queen, followed by decorated floats touring through the village from the Punch Bowl pub at 1.00pm.

Carnival organiser, Eileen Hanmer, said: “This year’s entertainment includes Border Counties Gymnastics, Boreatton Scout Troop, Porth-y-Waen Youth Silver Band and Simon Airey – The Animal Man!” “There’s truly something for everyone, including; Caricaturists, Fun Fair, Swing Boats, Traction Engine and Live Music.

"Plus there’s lots more to be announced between now and the event."

The village’s playing fields on Tedsmore Road will host the event with gates opening at 2pm

The event will also see a whole array of side stalls and craft stalls plus a tombola, bric-a-brac stand, bottle stall with the tea, cakes and ice cream courtesy of West Felton Women’s Institute, a fully-licensed bar, BBQ and fresh pizza’s from Amber’s Woodfired Kitchen and the carnival grand draw with a 1st prize of £100.

Admission is £2.00 for adults and free for children and senior citizens with events and entertainment on the field throughout the afternoon.
