Whitchurch dance troupe Maggie Mays have come away with a clean sweep of awards at a recent event.

They attended one of eight regional heats of the That’s Showbiz dance competition against schools from across the north west of England, and came away with a boot full of trophies and their tickets straight through to the semi-finals in Blackpool on September 22.

Maggie Mays’ dancers performed in four age categories: under-6s, U10s, U12s and seniors with each group was awarded first place in their category and in total the dance school walked away with 12 trophies.

The winning U12s dance was choreographed by Beth Pawley and the U6, U10 and senior dances by Maggie Mays’ dedicated founder and teacher Crissy Wylie.

She said: “We’re so happy that the months of hard work from all our dancers, teachers and parents has paid off!

“I’m still smiling at the look on our dancers’ faces when they all won their categories.

“They are such a hard-working, motivated, determined bunch and I’m incredibly proud of each and every one of them.”

Results: U6s, Cruella – Best Small Group in Category, Highest Marks in Genre, First Place in U6 Age Group; U10s, Jungle Party – Adjudicators Choice Award, Highest Marks in Genre, First Place in U10s Age Group; U12s, Out of Our Heads – Best Small Group in Category, Highest Marks in Genre, First Place in U12 Age Group; Seniors – Rhythm of The Night, Best Small Group in Category, Highest Marks in Genre, First Place in Senior Age Group.
