A cheerleading dance company tasked with showing their entrepreneurial spirit have been the enjoying the fruits of their labours with new uniforms.

GLOs Dance & Cheer, based in Whitchurch, raised for their new cheerleading competition uniforms, and received them a week before their first competition of the season.

Gemma Hodgkinson, who is the coach at the group, said the children really enjoyed the experience and was delighted with their recent performances.

"The children took part in an enterprise scheme where they all received £2 and they had to go away and try to make more money," she said.

"They had lots of different ideas, from dog treats, to bookmarks and bake sales, all together they raised more than £360 which paid for the girls cheer bows.

"They had their new uniforms and their new bows, they had practised hard and were all ready for the first competition of the season. They were very excited to show their new look off.

"The GLO Stars competed on March 30 and 31 in Stoke-on-Trent at the Incredibly Cool Events Cooler and had a fantastic weekend. I was over the moon with their performances."

The results came in with Minis Cheer getting first place in Youth Stunt and Master Stunt, plus first for Senior Cheer and second for Senior Stunt before ultimately being named grand champions for the highest mark of the competition for Stunt.

gemma added: "Then we received a special Sportsmanship award for being so friendly, helpful and encouraging for other teams! I can’t describe how proud of everyone she is, and so pleased the results portrayed the amount of work the teams have put in since Christmas."
