A re-named long-standing Malpas choir is inviting residents from the village to take part in a concert.

One Achord is a friendly group of 25 members of all ages, who enjoy not just singing but also socialising, a wide variety of activities are organised each year by members of the choir.

There has been a ladies choir in Malpas for many years, regularly taking part in competitions and performing at various concerts in the Cheshire area and over time, the choir has grown and evolved.

It continues to go from strength-to-strength under their accomplished musical director Steve Roberts, who has introduced new styles of singing and an ever increasing repertoire including songs from the musicals, both modern and traditional, gospel music, ballads and seasonal music, among others.

The choir will be singing on Friday, May 17 at The High Street Church in Malpas from 7-9pm as they launch their new name.

A spokesman said: "You are warmly invited to meet the choir members, listen to a few numbers, experience singing together and enjoy drinks and nibbles.

"They rehearse every Tuesday 7-9pm (term time only) at The High Street Church and would warmly welcome new members – enthusiasm, the ability to sing in tune and a willingness to work together is all that is required."

If you are interested in listening to the choir they are performing as part of a concert organised by the National Association of choirs at Ellesmere Port Civic Hall on April 27. The choir also take bookings for concerts, weddings and private functions.
