It was the perfect weekend for firefighters in Malpas to host their bi-annual charity car wash.

The retained crew were joined by colleagues from Sandbach for the fundraiser in aid of the Firefighters' Charity.

And despite a brief call-out they still managed to raise £443.50.

Watch manager Paul Williams said: "We've had at least 40 cars easily. I think the nice weather is bringing people out.

"We usually get a good turnout. It's always very well supported."

The Firefighters' Charity supports firefighters and their families if they need any support with mental health or injuries: "It's a really important charity," Paul added.

"They do any awful lot within the firefighting community and outside it as well."

Paul added that the nine-strong team at Malpas is also recruiting. Anyone who would like to find out more can pop along to their drill nights which are held on Thursdays at the station on Chester Road between 7pm and 9pm.

"They can come along, have a chat with the crew and myself, have a look around and find out more about what we do," Paul said.
