A TEAM of Brownies have undertaken a 'heroic' fundraising effort.
Members of Ellesmere 2nd Brownies donned their capes on Saturday and volunteered as bag-packers in Tesco, to raise money for Cancer Research and Brownies, raising a grand total of £535.
Caroline Ford, Brownie leader, said: "Of the new challenges in the updated Girlguiding programme is Be Well. Girls were challenged to become superheroes and make a difference.
"As one of our leaders and a parent have recently had breast cancer and now in recovery, Brownies felt this was a way in which they could help, particularity as it was mothers day.
"They decorated the capes and wore hero masks. Lots of the public commented on how helpful they were. Raising funds for such good causes, both cancer research and our unit.
"Brownies had a blast and as leaders we are bursting with pride at their achievement."
