A rummage sale was a big success in Ellesmere on Saturday.

The afternoon event was held at the town hall in aid of the Swan Mere Day Centre which takes place every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at the venue.

There was plenty of 'rummaging' going on with visitors taking advantage of finding something in the many clothes, household and toys donations.

Janice Evans, who organised the sale, said: "We haven't had a rummage sale for years. We thought we would try it, we didn't know if it would take off, but it looks pretty busy.

"We are very pleased with the turnout and the donations."

Funds raised from the day will go towards day trips and activities organised by the day centre, which is a community interest company.

Janice added: "It's not for profit so it all goes back into the centre."

The sale was also supported by Ellesmere Co-Op which provided refreshments.

The day centre is also running a monthly Saturday Club for older people, which will include games, activities and plenty of laughter.

The next one will be held on Saturday, April 13 between 10am and 2pm at the town hall.
