Swimmers in Whitchurch took to the water on Sunday to help raise money for charity at the town's swimming pool.

A group of 14 swimmers, ranging from 68 to seven-year-old Isabella Davies, swam a minimum of 400 metres to raise money for Marie Curie and Cancer Research.

Fiona Hand, who is a duty manager at Whitchurch Swimming Centre, near Tesco, said it was great to see the swimmers, including 21-year-old lifeguard Blake Tinsley, getting involved.

"On Sunday, 14 people took part in Whitchurch in what was something that been happening all over the country.

"The people who took part ranged from a 68-year-old to Isabella. It was great to see people taking part, including Blake who is a lifeguard."

Isabella, who completed 400m in 11 minutes and 59 seconds, said: "It was a lot of fun and a brilliant swim – I loved getting my Swimathon medal."
