An elderly man who was injured in a collision in Shrewsbury last week has died.

The collision happened around 6pm on Wednesday, March 20 on the A458 at Rowton, at the junction of Rowton Avenue, between four vehicles.

An 82-year-old man was injured during the collision and taken to hospital. He has since died as a result of his injuries.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses in particular anyone who saw a blue VW Polo being driven shortly before the collision.

Officers are also keen to trace a fourth vehicle that didn't stop at the scene. It's thought the rear nearside light on the vehicle was damaged in the collision.

PC Simon Barnes said: "Sadly the elderly man involved in this collision has now died and our thoughts are with his family at this time.

"Our enquiries are continuing and we'd like any witnesses to get in contact, including any motorists who were in the area and have dashcam footage, in particular any footage of a blue VW Polo.

"We believe a fourth vehicle was also damaged during the collision after another vehicle drove into the back of it causing damage to the rear nearside light. The vehicle didn't stop at the scene and we're keen for this motorist to get in contact with us."

Anyone with information should ring West Mercia Police on 101 quoting reference 563s 200319.
