Bishop Heber High School hosted their biennial 'Careers Convention' at the school on Wednesday evening.

Carden Park Hotel were once again their sponsor and generously provided refreshments for guests and organised printing of the brochure for the event. As sponsor they had a range of staff from the Hotel, covering HR Management, Hotel Management, Beauty and Spa Therapists and Golf Professionals to give students an insight into the wide range of jobs involved in the hotel industry.

More than 100 exhibitors attended the Careers Convention covering Further and Higher Education organisations; Gap Year organisations, Apprenticeship and Training companies, Public Services including Army, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy and Royal Marines and Police.

In addition a huge range of organisations covered job areas including: accounting, banking finance and insurance; architecture, construction and surveying; art, fashion and interior design; education and childcare and Law among others as well as medicine and health; veterinary science and nursing

The evening encouraged students from Year 9 - 13 and their parents to chat to people who actually do the job and explore as many different career pathways as possible.

They could also speak with many training providers and Colleges/Universities to research different courses and qualifications linked with many job situations.

David Curry, headteacher of Bishop Heber, in Chester Road, was delighted with the evening and thanked all exhibitors for their support in making the event such a success.
