A GROUP of young people are hoping to put on a show-stopping performance in Malpas.

Minerva Arts' two Youth Theatre groups in Malpas present The Dream Collector, a play by Fin Kennedy and by arrangement with Nick Hern Books, which lands at Malpas Jubilee Hall on Friday, March 29.

The 25-strong cast is made up of 7-16 year olds who have been working hard to create a show-stopping performance, transforming the Malpas Jubilee Hall into a 'dream world' for an immersive theatre experience.

Youth Theatre manager, Hollie Wimpenny said: "This is the first time we have brought both our drama groups in Malpas together for one show.

"It will be the biggest production we have done so far and the young people are raising to the challenge, inputting a lot of their own ideas. We can’t wait to show the community what they have been working on."

The Dream Collector follows a school group who go on a Media Studies trip to an isolated country house. Upon arriving, they discover the Somnagraph - the world’s first machine for screening your dreams.

Minerva Arts was founded in 2009 by Steph Brocken and Hayley Wood, Malpas Youth Theatre started in 2015 for ages 7-12 and Malpas Young Actors was established in 2018 for ages 11-18.

Both groups have gone from strength to strength, dedicated to creating unusual and contemporary performances, where young people take the lead.

Tickets for The Dream Collector are available at the door, £4 for adults and £2 for concessions.

There will also be a raffle and refreshments.

Doors open at 7.45pm, show starts at 8pm and is approximately an hour long.
