KIND-HEARTED volunteers have been thanked for helping to make an annual charity collection a success.

Oswestry Cambrian Rotary Club hosted the individuals and community groups from St Martins, Gobowen, Whittington and Oswestry that helped the club with the Santa sleigh street collections throughout December 2018.

It was the club’s opportunity to thank the collectors, and for them to see the cheque presentations to various groups and projects.

The collection raised more than £6,000 and the club was pleased to support 10 organisations, groups and projects in and around Oswestry as well as other Rotary supported projects.

Spokesman Mike Lade said: "Oswestry Cambrian Rotary will be making the dream happen for the children again next year.

"In November 2019 we will be seeking the help of the local parishes again to help us with our collection schedule. It would be great if we could get to Trefonen and Weston Rhyn as well in 2019 so if anyone from those communities would like to act as the 'local lead' then please get in touch."

The Oswestry Cambrian Rotary Club is ready to welcome men and women over the age of 18 who want to be 'people of action'.

Members meet informally, and without a meal or any of the old traditions of Rotary, at The Wynnstay Hotel, Church Street, Oswestry on Thursday evenings at 7.45pm.
