Eddisbury MP Antoinette Sandbach has called for schools and colleges in her constituency to be given more equal funding.
The MP has been raising the profile of education funding issues in Cheshire and at the start of the month, she questioned Damian Hinds, the Education Secretary directly about the gap between funding for urban schools and more rural ones.
Following this she signed a letter supporting a fairer funding settlement for local colleges. On 14 February 2019 she then once more raised the matter of education funding with Lord Agnew, the Schools Minister in a debate on school funding in Cheshire.
Ms Sandbach said: “Our schools and colleges are at the heart of building a prosperous, socially mobile society.
"They are key to boosting the prospects of our young people and delivering the skills our local businesses want.
“They often achieve outstanding results despite receiving lower funding than schools in London and elsewhere.
"This government has a good record on education, with more than a million more children in good and outstanding schools, however these results could be even better if Cheshire saw the levels of funding that other parts of the country receive.”
