Councillors in Wem will be asked to consider a request to transfer funds for the installation of a base for a beacon on the town's recreation ground.

The money is currently in the 'Jubilee' account and it will be used to put the beacon in for future events including Remembrance Day in November.

Meanwhile, Councillor Pauline Dee has requested for an item on the agenda to discuss the increase in charges for parking in Wem since the end of January.

There are four planning items for councillors' consideration, beginning with a tree preservation order behind Creamore Villa in Whitchurch Road, where the owners have applied for the crown lifted to three metres, only removing secondary branches of one Wellingtonia protected by the Shropshire Council.

Meanwhile, at 2 Summerfield Road for the building of one open market dwelling and the formation of new pedestrian access and alterations to an existing dwelling.

The third item for discussion is a building of a detached garage at 1 Soulton Crescent, Wem, along with a brick built boundary wall and the formation of a new vehicle access to replace the existing site access.

Finally at 42 Kynaston Drive, the building of a first floor side extension.

Other items on the agenda include a discussion on the condition of town pavements as well as approving changes to the Allotment Tenancy Agreement.

There will be quotes considered for a floral planter maintenance contract, as well as hearing a response to their appeal to Shropshire Council concerning an Environmental Maintenance Grant.

Members will also consider participation in the 'Keep Britain Tidy – Great British Spring Clean' from April 22-24 and three items of correspondence, including a request for a donation from Llangollen Eisteddfod; a Community Enablement Team briefing note and a letter concerning Reinforcement to the North Shropshire Electricity Distribution Network.

The meeting, which takes place in the Roden Suite at Edinburgh House, starts at 7pm on Thursday, February 28.
