A CHILDREN'S hospice charity is entering the world of virtual events to raise funds.

HOPE House Children’s Hospices have launched the Valentine’s Virtual Run, looking for people to walk, jog or run 14 miles to raise vital funds to help care for seriously ill children and their families.

Hope House fundraiser Hanah Robinson said: "The Valentine’s virtual run is a fabulous way for supporters to raise vital monies for the children and families we support in their own time.

"It’s brilliant as people can fit it into their own time and run, jog or walk at their own pace too. We must continue to raise funds to support local children and families when they need us most.

"Sadly, three local children die each week and currently Hope House Children’s Hospices can only afford to help one of these families. We are committed to changing this and with the support of our local community we will be a step further to doing so. No one should suffer the death of a child alone."

Virtual running works exactly the same as any other type of running but the difference is that the entered race can be run at any location, at any pace, inside on a treadmill

The challenge can be completed throughout February in a time to suit participants.

Runners can track their progress using the Strava or Runkeeper app which are free to download and use – or they can upload your progress manually.

Registration is free but participants are asked to be sponsored to take part.

Everyone who completes their miles and raises a minimum of £14 will receive a Hope House and Ty Gobaith heart-shaped medal and downloadable certificate.

Those who raise £100 will also receive a Hope House and Ty Gobaith running vest in addition, who anyone raising £250 will also receive free entry into one of their chosen fundraising events such as Gung-Ho! at Chester Racecourse or one of the 2019 Dark Runs.

People can sign up a group of friends, family or work colleagues to take part with them.

Employees of Farm and Pet Place, Mold, are planning to place a treadmill in their store during February for employees to take part.
