Whitchurch has welcomed another new business to its thriving high street.

Crafty Birds launched on Saturday with the Mayor of Whitchurch, Councillor Tony Neville, having the honour of cutting the ribbon.

The new business, which sells craft products and items produced by local people, has been launched by Sarah Radford and Gill Rich.

Sarah told the Herald: "It is brilliant to be launching this new venture.

"Gill and myself both sew, and we both quilt and craft. Gill also makes bags and I make clothes, and we know each other because I was a customer at her shop.

"A mutual friend said why not open a business like this together and we have a chat and now we're here."

Sarah said it has taken four months to go from coming up with the idea to opening the doors on Saturday morning.

She added: "It has been relatively straight forward.

"We had a lot of interest so that has helped and all the products we are selling are made by local craftspeople."

Gill said: "I am really excited.

"We have already had lots of positive feedback and just to have a shop like this in the town is amazing."

There was also plenty of positivity from Cllr Neville, who welcomed the town's new addition.

He commented: "This is brilliant for Whitchurch.

"There is definitely a need for businesses like this in the town."
