Councillors in Wem will be asked to consider the condition of the one of the town's oldest buildings.

Park House, which is in Park Road off New Street and used to be known as The Hall, is a late 18th century Grade II-listed building that was converted into flats in the 1970s.

Councillor Pauline Dee has asked for a discussion on the agenda about the condition of the house – which is around 100 yards away from the council's Edinburgh House base.

It is one item for a packed agenda on Thursday, starting at 7pm in the Roden Suite.

Other items include councillors discussing protocols for Operation London Bridge, but will be in the second part of the meeting which excludes press and public.

The meeting will begin with a period of public participation, where residents who wish to raise any issues at the beginning may do so in a 15-minute window of opportunity.

Councillors will be asked to consider quotes received to improving heating for the council groundsman's shed.

They will also be asked to purchase a battery-powered speaker in one of a number items brought over from previous agendas.

Councillors will consider concerns raised about increased dog fouling in Wem while a quote for improve lighting in Drawwell Walk will also be discussed.

Two planning issues are on the agenda, including a tree preservation order at Mill House Farm in Whitchurch Road.

The application is the crown raise to 25m high, raising bottom branches to five metres above the ground of 1no Wellingtonia.

Also, at Robinson And Young, Shrewsbury Road Garage, Shrewsbury Road, the demolition of an existing shop/fuel sales building and replace with car parking spaces; extend existing MOT workshop building and change use to shop and fuel sales.
