There will be Highland flings and celebration in Malpas at the end of the month.

The Malpas and District Scottish Society will hold their Burns Night on Saturday, January 19, in the Jubilee Hall, Malpas.

Tickets are £20.

A Burns supper is a celebration of the life and poetry of the poet Robert Burns (January 25 1759 – July 21, 1796), the author of many Scots poems.

The suppers are normally held on or near the poet's birthday, occasionally known as Robert Burns Day (or Robbie Burns Day or Rabbie Burns Day) but more commonly known as Burns Night
