I HAVE now been mayor for the last six months and during that time, despite problems with the railway and the huge blow of both banks closing down in the town, we have had good response from the people of Wem who as always support us and its still business as usual.
On the positive side the Sweet Pea show was a great success and the RAF freedom MARCH, leading the Carnival was a fantastic day which was extremely well supported.
The town came together for the 100 years anniversary of the first world war Remembrance Day. The British Legion, local schools and the towns people transformed the high street with poppies.
We all came together for the grand parade including real camels and turning on of the Christmas lights.
I am extremely proud to be the Mayor of this fantastic town and would like to wish everyone a happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
