Whixall Marina is set to play host to a new set of holidaymakers after a deal was struck between two holiday companies to keep boats there.

Anglo Welsh, a Shropshire canal and narrowboat holiday company, has extended its partnership with domestic holiday experts, Hoseasons, after offering a new boating location at Whixall.

The company is looking forward to welcoming holidaymakers from all over the UK in 2019 after agreeing the new deal to sell its range of quality boating breaks through the 'staycation' specialist.

Rob Lawrence, managing director at Anglo Welsh, said Hoseasons is a company that they are delighted to extend what has so far been a very fruitful relationship.

"In the 10 years we’ve worked with Hoseasons we’ve always been impressed by both the history and heritage of the brand, as well as the expert support they’ve offered us, so it wasn’t a difficult decision when it came to opening another boating base," he said.

The new base, which sits on the Prees Branch of the Llangollen Canal, will provide 10 holiday canal boats, three of which are new to the fleet, from April next year, bringing the fleet size for 2019 to 111 across 9 bases.

Llangollen Canal is ideal for beginners and offers the opportunity to discover many canal wonders, including the famous Pontcysyllte aqueduct and Chirk Tunnel.

Mark Warnes, property and portfolio director at Hoseasons, feels the expansion will be great news for local tourism.

He said: “We’re delighted to have extended our relationship with Anglo Welsh and are looking forward to bringing them even more customers in 2019.

“The boats on offer here are ideal for all party types and located across the canal network, so lots of choice when it comes to cruising destinations, and we’ll be doing all we can to raise awareness of them to national audiences through our extensive marketing activity and large customer database.”
