Eddisbury MP Antoinette Sandbach believes Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn acted in an ‘un-parliamentary way’ after it was alleged he called prime minister Theresa May a ‘stupid woman’.

Ms Sandbach appeared on BBC’s Newsnight last week to claim that Mr Corbyn muttered the phrase, which was caught live on live television, despite his protestations that he called the entire Conservative Party “stupid people”.

Ms Sandbach said: “The vast majority of people agree with me after seeing it [the clip[.

“I think the problem is it makes his response appear disingenuous and unconvincing, and I think quite frankly it’s un-parliamentary.

“We are supposed to be setting an example as a parliament at the moment and we are failing miserably.”

She also added that the gear change in language and abuse towards and from MPs has stemmed from recent Brexit announcements.
