Shropshire Wildlife Trust has a number of events upcoming in the New Year.

The Ellesmere Branch will be holding a members' evening on January 3 from 8pm at the town hall in Willow Street.

The night is a chance to enjoy wildlife photos taken by members, a wildlife quiz and good food for all those who want to attend.

The price is £3 for members or £4 for non-members.

For more details, email Jane Farncombe at janefardcombe@icloud.com

Then on January 6, there will be a chance for youngsters to get their hands on some bird poo – owl pellets to be specific.

The event will take place at Wood Lane Nature Reserve, south of Ellesmere in Colemere Road and there will be two sessions from 10am until 12pm and then 2pm until 4pm.

It costs £5 and is suitable for children – no dogs are permitted.

Meanwhile, in Whitchurch on January 27, there will be a 'Big Garden Birdwatch' at Alderford Lake between 10am until 4.30pm.

Residents and visitors are being urged to come along and take part in a bird survey at Alderford to test your identification skills.

Visitors will be provided with information to help you learn more about these feathered guests of the lake as part of a national campaign.

Dogs are welcome on a lead and there is onsite parking and wheelchair access as well as usual facilities available on site.
