Young footballers in Whitchurch have helped raise nearly £1,000 towards securing a better future for their club.
Whitchurch Alport Juniors FC joined up with the Whitchurch branch of Sainsbury’s in London Road, on December 1 to help raise important funds for the club.
Members of several teams attended during the day to help customers pack their shopping away in return for a donation.
Club welfare officer and junior coach Andy Forrester was delighted with the efforts shown by his charges and thanked the customers and staff of Sainsbury’s for their help.
He said: “In the six hours we were there, nearly £1,000 was raised, which is a fantastic sum.
“The club would like to thank Sainsbury’s for their help on the day and their customers for their generosity – we hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas and a great new year.”
