Wem Jubilee Training Band enjoyed a successful weekend of playing at their annual Christmas concert as youngsters impressed the watching crowds.

Ruth Wilson, from the band, said she was delighted with how the young people performed in front of a good audience and is looking forward to more.

She added: “The concert was very well supported and attended. The band played a popular selection of music, from films such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Harry Potter, as well as providing an opportunity for audience participation with Christmas songs.

“To open the second half, two of our talented members sang the opening verse to Once in Royal David’s City, much to the delight of the audience.

“All adults involved with tutoring the Training Band members are incredibly proud of them for what they have achieved. We look forward to playing as part of the senior bands Christmas concert on December 22, in the Church of St Peter and St Paul, 7pm.”
