Criftins Post Office is now open full time, thanks to its new post masters.

Ian and Lynn Johnson will now open the Post Office in Criftins Parish Hall six-days-a-week after taking over from the previous retiring post masters.

“My husband and I have never done anything like this before – I’ve worked in retail all my life and Ian had a customer service role in a diesel workshop,” said Lynn.

“We’ve lived in Tetchill for 11 years but we’ve always travelled out of the area to work. We decided that we wanted to work closer to where we lived, so when we saw the job advertised on Facebook we thought it would be a good idea.”

The new Criftins Parish Hall committee held a meeting with residents and created a survey to find out what resources and events the hall would benefit from. Out of 400 responses, more than 85 per cent of visitors said they’d like the Post Office open full time.

Lynn continued: “We’re really excited, it’s a great opportunity to bring the village together.

“The nearest Post Offices are in St Martins and Ellesmere, so for those who don’t drive it’s quite a distant to travel.”

The Post Office is open 9am to 5pm, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 9am to 12.30pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
