There will be a full programme of events at St Michael's church in Marbury in the build-up to Christmas.

The Reverend Veronica Green is inviting people to the first event on December 7, with a concert of seasonal music by the Border Singers at 7 pm.

This well-known and talented choir will be performing many old favourites and a few less well-known pieces, with Christmas readings and carols.

The evening will end with a complimentary glass of mulled wine and mince pies. This will be a lovely way to start the festive season in the beautiful setting of St. Michaels.

Tickets are £7.50, and are available from Diana Thomas (01948 663738), Jane Lunt (01948 662910) and Carol Sheard (01948 663087).

The Christingle service will be on Sunday, December 9 at 11am – this is a time for children to feature in the celebrations, and proceeds are given to the Children’s Society which provides much-need help and support for vulnerable children and young adults in the UK.

The church choir and others will meet outside The Swan in Marbury at 6.30 pm on Thursday, December 20 for carol singing around the village, before moving up to Wirswall.

The ever-popular carol service will take place in the candle-lit church on Sunday, December 23, starting at 6.30 pm.

The hidden gem of St. Mary’s, Whitewell (part of the United Benefice), will host the joint Midnight Service at 11.30 pm on Christmas Eve.

Finally, on Christmas Day there will be a Crib Service with Holy Communion at 10.30 am.

For information on any of the above concerts and services, please contact Rev. Veronica (01948 663758) or church wardens Diana Thomas (01948 663738) and Jane Lunt (01948 662910).
