Eddisbury MP Antoinette Sandbach, who covers Malpas and its surrounding villages, has confirmed she asked for a meeting regarding re-selection.
Ms Sandbach, who was first elected to the seat in 2015, will meet with her Eddisbury Constituency Association tomorrow (Thursday) to discuss securing her future as the Conservative candidate for the area.
The MP insists the meeting is not out of the ordinary and says it is part of any preparation for a future snap election similar to the 2017 vote.
“I asked for my reselection to be put on the agenda," said Ms Sandbach.
"It is not out of the ordinary for an MP to do so.
"Politics is very uncertain at the moment and it’s important to be ready for anything, including an election.”
Eddisbury Conservatives Association said the meeting is procedural and they are not aware of or expecting any issues to be raised against Ms Sandbach.
