The Cards for Good Causes charity shop is now open to the public.

Oswestry Mayor Councillor Sandy Best received a warm welcome when she visited the charity card shop in St Oswald's Parish Church.

The shop sells quality cards and Christmas goods on behalf of 30 national and local charities ranging from Age UK through to the Stroke Association, and aims to ensure that at least 75 per cent of the proceeds will be returned to each charity.

For some of the lesser known charities the outlet is the major source of their annual income. Volunteers who man the local shop are asking the public to support them and to come and buy a card to raise much needed funds for the charities when you send your greetings to family and friends this Christmas.

The shop, now open from 10am until 4pm Monday to Saturday, is open until Saturday December 15.
