Students at Bishop Heber High School in Malpas spent the day being young entrepreneurs in Chester recently.

Year 9 students took part in an Enterprise Day which involved a series of activities led by Stephanie Hughes, marketing manager at Chester Race Company and Jeannie Chantler.

Students were dressed for the day in ‘business dress’ and completed tasks which involved designing billboards, posters and planning marketing budgets.

The whole day was a huge success with students fully engaged and enjoying the challenges presented to them.

Sixth Form students took part in workshops which included the Head of HR, Mark Wilcockson, from Chester Race Company giving information on Apprenticeship schemes, interview skills and recruitment procedures through a variety of interactive activities.

Students were also informed of work experience placements which will be available to them next year.

The day launched the collaboration between the two organisations where Chester Race Company will deliver a learning enrichment programme at Bishop Heber High School to students in every year group.

Students have also been busy creating poppies for Remembrance Day as part of the Malpas 100 Years On project.

Pupils from Years 7, 8 and 9 designed and produced a poppy which was display in front of the school entrance.
