Plans to build 27 homes in Gobowen have been given the green light by Shropshire Council.

Derwen College submitted the proposal for land off Southlands Avenue earlier this year.

But it was met with concerns from neighbouring residents of increased traffic and loss of privacy.

In granting permission last week, case officer Ollie Thomas said: “The proposed application site lies wholly within the identified development boundary for Gobowen, a designated community hub, and is a site allocated for residential housing within the SAMDev (Site Allocation and Management of Developments) Plan, it is therefore accepted that the site is in a sustainable location, within the built environment and will benefit from existing facilities, services and infrastructure offered by the village.

“The development of this site will provide additional housing supply in accordance with the wider strategic approach, while providing a diverse mix of housing, contribution to the local affordable housing need.”

The development will include affordable homes.
